The Holberg get together is history and strange history it is. Only 26 stubborn folk plus a bunch of kids made it to San Josef Heritage site near the San Josef/Cape Scott trail head most of whom oddly enough were members of the Ground Search Team circa early 70s. Most got out to San Jo Bay, which is as enchanting as ever, and there was a trip up the hill and a tour inside the tower. Visability was nil.

It started raining Friday noon and was still raining Monday morning thus curtailing most outdoor activities. We did raise a glass in a Last Post salute to fallen Comrades whose names that we could gather were written on a poster. There were a lot of names. I measured 4inches of water in 2 1/2 hours in my crab pot. It really poured. We flew the Roundel but photos are limited as few cameras worked under water.

There was one FCO from 1956, a couple of PMQ brats from early 60s, and from our time Meril and Joy Humphrey, Woody and Jody Woodruff, Dick and Gloria Price, 2 Price kids and their familys, Ron and Joyce Kirlew, Rick Crawford and wife, Ken and Diane McGregor, and Sherriff Gene Garrett and Sylvia and some others. No one from the 80s on. The domestic site is so overgrown now it is pointless to even try to drive up to where the HQ Bldg was, though I did.

There were at least 15 from the Island (5 from Port Hardy!! 8 from Comox/Courtenay) who didnt show. And about the same number, actually more, from elsewhere who had a change of heart. So thats the story of the first and likely last Holberg get together.

After 32 years it was great to see those who I had slept in the Cape Scott mud with and carried out seaches so so long ago, and to meet those who were there before me.
